RECAP

by Lisa Crates

Every time I go I don’t think they can make a trip better. They do, and I meet new, wonderfully fun & interesting people (now friends) too! Reed Hoffmann and Kevin Gilbert were an incredible team . They were both so fantastic at answering questions and offering advice . I learned so much, Thanks!

Day one, we landed in Athens in the morning. We wandered the streets for a short time and sampled the local foods in the market place for lunch. We boarded a bus for a quick city tour . Then we were off to Olympic Stadium and the Acropolis; amazing. We watched and photographed the busy city and the changing of the guards at sunset. At night, the moon was over the a Acropolis and from our Grand Hotel we ran for our tripods to catch it. Some of the lucky ones did! Day two, we jumped on a Ferry to Mykonos only to be speechless at the color of the water! The sun rose as we cruised toward the Isle. Once there, we settled in to our rooms at Santa Marina Resort. WOW! We got a tan at the beach while using Lori’s new underwater camera and having a lot of fun. We went into the village several times and stayed on the island for a few days . (We needed more!) We photographed windmills, people and pelicans that were as tall as me . That would be all of 5’1. The beach, water, food, people... just look at our pictures we brought back. I will post some of mine on the alumni page of pop photo.

Next, we were off to Delos by boat for the day to learn even more about the ancient history of the islands. It was interesting to think about what it must have been like that long ago and to photograph the ruins that where left behind. Then it was on to beautiful Santorini on the Flying Cat over rough seas. One of us(me) didn’t do so well on that voyage, but thanks to Joe, I survived to write this recap! We had breathtaking views from our rooms and wandered the streets to discover this island’s uniqueness. Several towns are scattered throughout Santorini, each with their own flair. We once again captured some great screen saver pictures, posters, and enough material to publish a book on this island alone! I would go again in a heart beat; there is so much more to see. I finally found my Baklava (many thanks to John) yummy!

To my mentors and my fellow trekkers... I love you all, and really enjoyed meeting and spending time with each and every one of you . I could write something special about each of you, but, that would take a few more pages. So that is going to have go in my Lisa’s Travel Adventures book. I will let you know! So until our next adventure together...... Make sure you post some of your pictures so everyone can see what a beautiful place Greece is.. see you .. Smile!
